A daughter of two teachers, holiday breaks were for road trips growing up. We'd load the full-size van that usually supported my father's antiques business and embark on cross-country journeys. Specifically in 1992, we drove from Ohio to Yellowstone National Park. I have vivid memories of performing nightly recaps of wildlife sightings and the days highlights that are now buried in storage on a VHS tape. Yesterday's version of Instagram I suppose.
By middle school I'd fallen in love with volleyball and while we still traveled, most of our time was spent dedicated to team functions or shopping malls. I followed volleyball all over the country, as a student-athlete and then a coach. By thirty I'd lived in six different states. When my husband and I moved to Florida, I knew myself as a beach person.
It wasn't until 2018 during my "Orangetheory era", on a work trip to the Bay Area that something moved me to make an impromptu solo visit to Yosemite National Park over Memorial Day Weekend. It was perfect timing. It lit me up inside. I hiked to the top of Yosemite Falls, had a stranger take what turned out to be an incredible image of me, and the fire from my youth for National Parks had been reignited. YOLO.
Over the next five years I'd use all my PTO to visit National Parks. Eventually I began considering myself a mountain lover, avid hiker, aspiring influencer, and a bit of an expert. Deciding travel was now my passion, I cracked into the travel industry and eventually gained enough confidence to create this platform to share all the things I've learned, and will continue to learn, throughout my travels. Welcome aboard!
